Muscat: The Ministry of Health has signed two financing agreements with Oman LNG for the purchase of advanced medical equipment. Equipment purchased under the agreements is expected to further strengthen preventive health care in the Sultanate.

The first agreement is for the purchase of cancer detection devices for the Royal Hospital in Muscat, while the second is for the supply of complete blood count (CBC) devices for 5 different health centers in the North Sharqiyah Governorate.

Cancer detection devices will enable flawless and early diagnosis, intervention and treatment of cancer; which would ultimately reduce its severity. In addition, they will help improve the quality of life of patients and provide an economical, simple and fast alternative to other expensive detection alternatives.

Likewise, complete blood count (CBC) devices will facilitate the quick and easy detection of different diseases, allowing patients to explore preventive methods early on. These devices will also make it possible to assess the general state of health of patients with a focus on blood diseases.

According to Dr Fatima Al-Ajmi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for administrative, financial and planning affairs, the agreements illustrate how cooperation between the private and public sectors is essential for the public interest.

“Not only do we seek to raise awareness of preventive treatment through these agreements, but we also aim to encourage people to seek early detection of diseases and adopt healthier lifestyles,” she said while expressing its “great pleasure to reach out to Oman LNG and cooperate to serve the nation.

Dr Amor Al Matani, CEO of Oman LNG Development Foundation, spoke about the company’s many supporting initiatives. “Thanks to our strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health, we have succeeded in implementing many projects across the country.

“Since its inception, Oman LNG has shown great interest in supporting many development sectors through our strong social investment program; in which the medical sectors have always been a top priority.

“We are striving to ensure the supply and introduction of the necessary medical equipment and tools in health facilities,” he said, expressing his joy in working with the Ministry of Health in the framework of strengthening the health sector in the country.
