It’s easy to forget that Hector Bellerin is still on Arsenal’s books after joining Real Betis on loan this summer, but the defender reminded his club of his qualities after keeping his clean sheet against Barcelona.

The 26-year-old right-back kept his clean sheet and completed the 90 points as Betis clinched an incredible 1-0 victory over the UEFA Champions League giants, inflicting Xavi Hernandez his first loss as a coach of Barcelona.

The result against Barcelona and Bellerin’s performance took Betis to third place in La Liga. The Sevilla-based club are enjoying an exceptional season under the management of former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

And the Arsenal loan star is certainly making an impact with the Andalusian club. Bellerin has made 12 appearances in total at Betis this season, with the defender keeping five clean sheets.

Indeed, Bellerin is set to leave Arsenal next summer, and Betis may well be his next permanent destination after an impressive loan spell with the club, which the right-back supported as a child. And this performance against Barcelona bodes well for his future in La Liga.

The defender won Pellegrini’s trust and was the key to Betis heading into the Christmas season in the top four. And on social media, Arsenal fans were stunned by Bellerin’s performance against Barcelona.
